  • About Merlion Park, Singapore

    The former Singaporean craftsman, Mr. Lim Nang Seng was the one who responsible to generate ideas for the statue and make it come into life by three-dimensional. It took almost a year to build the remarkable Merlion statue which was made of cement fondue. 15th September 1972 was marked as the day that the former Prime Minister of Singapore, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew officiated the installation ceremony of the Merlion Park.

    Supertree Grooves

    The most noticeable monument with the head of a lion represents ‘Singapura’ that means ‘lion city’ in Malay meanwhile the body of a fish symbolizes Singapore’s old days as a small fishing town. The 28 feet tall statue spouts water from its mouth and into the bay. This traveller attraction offers the view of Marina Bay Sand and Sentosa Island from afar.

    2. Mini Merlion

    Behind the iconic Merlion, there is Mini Merlion. It is 2 meter standing statue which weighed 2 tonnes also known as ‘Merlion Cub’ by the locals. The white-coloured fine statue is richly inlaid with precious Chinese porcelain such as bowls and small teacups as part of its design. Visitors may take as many as creative snapshots at Mini Merlion as this is another mandatory sightseeing spot in Singapore.
